A few weeks ago my fiancé Justin and I decided to book a last minute trip to Hong Kong.
We had both never been before and heard some great things so I thought… YOLO LETS GO.
We stayed in Tin Hau (not far from Causeway Bay) in a boutique hotel that was recommended to us called “The Tuve hotel”. It was uniquely decorated with simple concrete walls and wooden furniture. I have to admit I’m a sucker for minimal/timeless styling in a hotel. The photo opportunities were endless! LOL.
We were walking distance to the station so we found ourselves catching the train everywhere, using our Octopus Cards. You can purchase these at any convenient store and top up when needed.
The Hong Kong train system is incredible. They are clean, cheap, efficient and extremely easy to use! Keep in mind they do get busy in peak hour (just like Sydney but ten times worse!).
I was mesmerised at the colourful buildings around the city and Justin was having a field day photographing them.
Isn’t It’s crazy to think that someone’s ordinary becomes your extraordinary?? (I’ve always wanted to include that saying into a post).
We looked like the biggest tourists walking around with our mouths wide open and cameras around our necks.
Being vegetarian I wasn’t sure how I would go with the food over there.
I had heard from friends there aren’t many vegetarian options there, however I absolutely LOVED everything I ate ! I had veggies, noodles, dim sims etc daily. We both agreed we had some of the most delicious meals ever whilst in HK.
Some of our favourite restaurants were;
- Ding Thai fung Causeway Bay
- Pisci Soho (Italian and so delish)
- Little bao Soho
- Ho lee Fook
- Dumpling kitchen
- Mak Mak
(Thank you to those who suggested most of these to us via Instagram)
The Shopping in Hong Kong is a must. They have some of the best shopping centres in the world. There was literally a Chanel on every corner! If you’re after a girls weekend of shopping I would say Hong Kong is the place to be!
All up, I definitely enjoyed our trip more than I thought I would. Hong Kong is amazing. Its definitely worth visiting, even if it’s for just a few days!
